These little birds are sanderlings. A book nicknames them "wave chasers." I took these pictures yesterday, and yes, I did crop them. If I actually approached that close, they'd rise en masse and zoom away ... the way they're doing in the photo "Lovers," which I posted a couple weeks ago.
