This picture looks sad. Serene, yes, but sad. Beautiful too, but still sad.

Yes, there is a melancholy look to it!

Yes, it is melancholy. I guess after all the fun, things really have to come to this part of day, when all will be melancholy. Quiet. Just that, hopefully, but not sad.

But it's beautiful, Scott being in it. ;-)

Yes, melancholy can be beautiful, and in this case, is, I think.

Also, there is evidence of the passage of time, and loss.

Loss?

The old milk jug represents a bygone era and a sense of deep nostalgia (for me, anyway).

Oh, I didn't realize that was an old milk jug he was carrying. Yes, you're right. It has a deep sense of nostalgia. A thing of the past. And this is always somehow associated with a feeling or a sense of melancholy.

Every day, we lose who we were and become who we are. Signs of the past represent who were were, and that includes youth and innocence. At least for me. Also, better health. Mary

To see Scott in the water, next to a large tree at the water's edge, the perspective in the photograph is nicely captured. It shows how [any] human can act responsibly in harmony with the natural environment which sustains him. It is often the little acts that make the biggest difference. His acts of continued stewardship and education will have a positive impact on that place and the people who visit.

Scott is a true steward of the land and water at Silk Creek!
